Notable Neighbors: Manager Suzanne Karklins, The Heights

Suzanne Karklins
Brand Manager, Orca at Orbea USA
Little Rock | The Heights
Nine years ago, Suzanne Karklins left a position managing Prada for Neiman Marcus in Dallas to manage cycling company Orbea USA’s clothing brand in Little Rock. But the transition from haute couture to cycling wasn’t all that shocking, as Suzanne had been cycling and racing mountain bikes at the pro level for years – even earning championship titles in both Texas and Arkansas.
It was only natural then that Orbea recruited Suzanne to manage the high-end Spanish cycling clothing brand they were importing and distributing in the U.S. “In this position, I was able to combine two of my biggest passions in one job,” Suzanne said.
Metro Little Rock’s flourishing cycling community, with miles and miles of trails to ride, popular bike shops and easy access to even more trails and riding terrain in surrounding counties and regions of the state, were the perfect fit for Suzanne.
“I spent most of my initial cycling career in the Dallas area, and I can tell you we are very spoiled here in Arkansas,” Suzanne said. “… We live in one of the most bicycle-friendly cities in the country.”
What surprised you the most about Little Rock? How active the community is – whether it be running, cycling or even walking – and how conducive the city is to these activities. I also appreciate the sense of community regarding things like neighborhood festivals, farmers markets and even neighborhood grocery stores and restaurants.
What do you love most about living in The Heights? You can find everything close to home and even within walking distance. The neighborhood is traditional and beautiful, and with a busy family and limited time, you can easily find everything you need close to home, saving you personal time and effort.
Why will other outdoor-enthusiasts love it here? Little Rock offers so many things to do outdoors, such as amazing road and mountain bike rides straight from the office or home (where as in many cities you have to put your bike on the car and drive out of town to reach anything worth riding).
