Many newcomers are unaware of central Arkansas’ outstanding medical community until they need it. Others, especially retirees, factor in the availability of excellent health care when planning their move. Several hospitals here are known internationally for their accomplishments in not only care, but also research. For instance, the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, a state-of-the-art medical center in Little Rock, treats more patients for myeloma than any other facility in the country.
