Jennifer Pyron and her husband, Charles, returned to her native Little Rock in 2006 so their children, Charles Jr. and Emily, could grow up around their extended family. The editor of Little Rock Family magazine, Pyron’s work and parenthood have made her an encyclopedia of sorts on central Arkansas.

Why is central Arkansas great for raising a family? When we moved back, I was struck by how many great family neighborhoods and communities exist. It seems like everywhere you turn there’s a park, a pool or a walking trail. My children have often commented on the fact that there is so much to do here.

Any family favorites? The Little Rock Zoo, Pinnacle Mountain State Park, and the Museum of Discovery’s rotating exhibits – I think they could explore them every week and still find new ways to enjoy them.

What about sports? The youth sports organizations are well-run. My children have made some great friends through LifeCHAMPS Football, Junior Deputy Baseball, Arkansas Soccer Club and River City Gymnastics.
