The largest city in Lonoke County, Cabot offers a high-ranking school system, quick access to business in the state capital and play on the Little Red River and Greers Ferry Lake. It’s also a great hometown if you’ve got college-aged kids – Cabot is centrally located amid four major universities.

Live
With more than 50 subdivisions, newcomers have plenty of options for quiet neighborhoods and community living. Here, some luxury homes go for less than $350,000. Several neighborhoods surround the Greystone Country Club and offer residents a wide range of styles, floor plans and prices. Quality apartments are also available for those who desire the convenience and ease of renting. Some people move to the city for the school system. Generally, Cabot students score higher on state benchmark exams than the state average.

Work
Cabot is home to more than 25,000 residents – some lured by the proximity to the Little Rock Air Force Base that’s just eight minutes away. Currently, educational and health services are the largest industries here, followed by manufacturing and retail trade, but that could all change: city leaders hope to capitalize on the state’s recognition of Cabot as a prime area for economic development. Like any central Arkansas suburb though, employment opportunities are nearby in Little Rock, just a short drive down U.S. Highway 67/167, which widens to three lanes in Sherwood.

Play
If you’re an avid hunter or fisher, the city of Cabot is a sportsman’s paradise with hunting and fishing opportunities available nearby. In fact, the Little Red River is one of the state’s best spots for trout fishing. If hitting the links is more your style, there are three picturesque golf courses located within the city, and Greystone Country Club-Mountain Springs is recognized as one of the best public courses in Arkansas. Cabot also has a strong parks system with activities including swimming, baseball, football and soccer.

Experience
Friday night football games are a huge social event – residents are so serious about the sport that in 2005, the district built a three-story athletic complex that includes an indoor practice field. Once the season’s over, Cabot residents continue to gather at annual events, like the Strawberry Festival or CabotFest, which began in 1978 as a celebration called “Cabot: We’re Back” two years after tornadoes destroyed the town.

X-treme Fun Located off Willie Road in Cabot, you’ll find Cabot’s new BMX Complex. The 1,100-foot-long BMX track is complete with a 20-foot high starting hill and a dual-lane section. Riders can sign up to race on Tuesdays and Saturdays, or just ride for fun the rest of the week.
