The Museum of Discovery’s Kevin Delaney with “The Tonight Show” host Jimmy Fallon on May 5, 2014.

Recently ranked top 10 among U.S. science museums by Mensa, this museum is a can’t-miss for families. It’s so famous for being cool that Jimmy Fallon, host of NBC’s “The Tonight Show,” regularly features the museum’s own Kevin Delaney to perform his “Awesome Science” experiments for the world. Kids can build things in the Tinkering Studio, try out the tornado simulator, be a weatherperson for a day and measure how much blood is in their body. The museum also hosts special interactive exhibits year-round. MuseumOfDiscovery.org

2. The Little Rock Zoo

Arkansas Department of Parks & Tourism

North Little Rock is home to the Arkansas Travelers, a minor league baseball team.

A zebra colt, pygmy slow loris, tiger cubs, baby penguins, a toddler gorilla — there’s nothing cuter than baby animals, except for maybe seeing a child’s reaction to them. Experience this joy, as well as the zoo’s train, carousel and recently added cheetah habitat on your visits. There are animal feedings, zoofari day camps, keeper chats and more than 700 animals representing more than 200 different species. LittleRockZoo.com

3. Baseball at Dickey-Stephens Park

Little Rock Zoo

This ballpark-with-a-view makes America’s pastime even more special. Bring the kids to enjoy a minor league Arkansas Travelers game — the Travs, as we call them, are the Double-A affiliate of the Seattle Mariners. There’s not a bad seat in the house, as Dickey-Stephens faces Little Rock's skyline and the river from North Little Rock. Special nights with fun swag for kids are scheduled throughout the season, which runs April through September. Travs.com

4. The Children’s Theatre

One of the best regional theaters in America, according to The Drama League, the Arkansas Arts Center Children’s Theatre is the only professional company in the state that produces children’s literary works for the stage. Made-for-kids shows have included “Giggle, Giggle, Quack,” “Junie B. Jones" and “Stone Soup.” ArkansasArtsCenter.org
